TTDC Overview

Tamilnadu state is located at south east of India. It surrounded by the Eastern Ghats in the north, the Nilgiri, the Annamalai Hills and Palakkad in the west, Bay of Bengal in the east, Gulf of Mannar, Palk Strait in the south east and Indian Ocean in the south. Due to beauty of hills, oceans, Wildlife, Hindu temples of Dravidian architecture and pilgrimage sites, Tamilnadu is one of the great attractions for tourist. To provide best service and accommodation to Tourist of Tamilnadu, Tamilnadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) was incorporated in 1971 undertaken by Government of Tamilnadu. TTDC is second largest tourism corporation in India.

In the beginning TTDC wast established in five government bungalows and operated 2 coaches. The entire share capital of Rs.678.63 lakhs has been subscribed by the State Government. With the main object of promoting tourism in Tamilnadu, Tamilnadu government builds tourism related infrastructure facilities on commercial basis. The tagline adopted for promoting tourism in Tamil Nadu is Enchanting Tamil Nadu. In 2004, Tamil Nadu had earned Rs. 20 million ($457,000) from tourism. Approximately 1,219,000 foreign and 29,305,000 domestic tourists visited the state in 2005.

TTDC has divided its main operation of tourism in main 3 divisions which are Hotel, transpiration and Fair. TTDC provides different type of accommodation such as Hotels, Youth Hostels, Restaurants, Boat House, Telescope Houses, Lake Park and Petrol Bunk as per requirement of tourist budget. At present, TTDC operates 54 hotels, 11 boat houses, 3 restaurants, 3 snack bars, 4 telescope houses, 2 landscaping & gardening and 1 tourist service center. The Youth Hostels cater to the needs of budget tourists with very low tariff of Rs.50/- per bed.

TTDC offers wide range of package tours and operates a fleet of 22 coaches, of which 4 coaches are AC. Package tours offers by TTDC covers the entire Southern States, States of Bihar, Maharashtra and Uttarpradesh. TTDC has started to operate Rail cum Road tours from Mumbai, Kolkatta, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Lucknow during the year 2002-2003.

TTDC Package Tours

Tamilnadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) represents major three type of tour TTDC Package Tours, TTDC Train Tour and TTDC LTC Tours. TTDC also encourage Medical Tourism. TTDC offers verity of tours with different length of tour period starting from 1 day to 14 days under the main title of TTDC Package tours. TTDC package tours includes bellow tours.

Sightseeing Package Tour:

• Chennai City Sightseeing tour for 1 day covers major attraction such as Fort St. George, Government Museum, Valluvar Kottam, Snake Park, Kapaleeswarar Temple and Marina Beach which is one of the longest beaches in the world. The stretch of beaches from Chennai to Mahabalipuram are home to many resorts, theme parks and eateries.
• Mamallapuram round trip tour for 1 day will take tourist to Kancheepuram, Mamallapuram, Muttukadu Boat House and VGP Golden Beach.
• Kishkintha tour for 1 day covers 300 foot high St. Thomas Mount, Vandalur Zoo also known as Arignar Anna Zoological Park was the first public zoo in India and Kishkintha is a Theme Park set in 120 acres of specially landscaped hills and lakes.

TTDC Train Tour starts from New Delhi

Train starts form Mumbai and cover Mamallapuram, Tanjavur, Rameshwaram, Kaniyakumari, Madurai - II, Kodaikanal, Thiruchy, Kancheepuram, Tirupathi and arrives at Chennai the final destination. Tourist will have choice to select AC or Non AC Coach. TTDC train tour provides AC Sharing a Double Room accomodation or Non AC Sharing a Double Room accommodation for the tourist facility. Tariff is inclusive of confirm train ticket pick up and drop at Chennai Central Station ,Non A.C transport, Non AC accommodation, Guide fees, Entrance fees, Parking fees, two times food daily and last day and Special Darshan of Lord Venkateshwar Balaji at Thirumala (Tirumala).

TTDC Train Tour starts from Mumbai

Train tour starts from Mumbai, Maharastra by train number 1063 and returns from Chennai by train number 6010. TTDC Train Tour starts from Ahmedabad

TTDC train tour start from Ahmedabad has duration of 11 days. During This trip tourist will enjoy the visit of Various city during their halt at Chennai, Tirupathi, Pondicherry, Thiruchy, Kodaikanal, Madurai, Kaniyakumari, Rameshwaram, Tanjavur, BRC - Mamallapuram. TTDC Train Tour starts from Lucknow

Duration of Tour start from Lucknow is 9 days. Tirupati, Tanjore, Rameshwaram, kanayakumari, Madurai, Kodaikanal, Thiruchy, Mamallapuram will be covered during this train tour. TTDC Tour will start from Lucknow, a capital city of Uttar Pradesh by train number 5012. and return from Chennai, Tamilnadu by train number 50211. Non AC Sharing a Double Room or AC Sharing a Double Room accommodation will be provided during the tour. Tourist will have choice to travel in Ac or non AC coach. The tariff is inclusive of confirm train ticket pick up and drop at Chennai Central Station ,Non A.C transport to A.C accommodation ,Guide fees, Entrance fees, Parking fees. TTDC Train Tour starts from Kolkatta (Calcutta)

This 11 days tour will be start from calcutta, West Bengal by train number 6004. Places of interest in this tour are Calcutta, N.H at BRC, Pondi-Thanj, Rameswaram, Kanniyakumari, Madurai, Kodaikanal, Thiruchy, Kancheepuram, Tirupathi and chennai. 2 AC and 3 AC coach will be provided during train journey. Sleeper class Sharing a Double Room or AC Sharing a Double Room accommodation will be provided in this tour. TTDC Train Tour starts from Hyderabad

TTDC tour start from Hyderabad, Andra Pradesh via train number 6003. Duration of the tour will be 11 days. Places of visit in sequence are Mamallapuram, Thirunallur, Kumb-Tanjore, Rameswaram, Kanniyakumari, Madurai, Kodaikanal, Thiruchy, Kancheepuram and Chennai. Tourist have choice to travel in AC Train coach, 2AC Train coach and 3AC Train coach. Not only that AC Sharing a Double Room, Sleeper Class Sharing a Double Room options are also available for accomodation. The Tariff includes train ticket, pick up and drop at central station Chennai, Non AC Transport, Non AC Acc Breakfast, Lunch or dinner, guide service, parking fees, entry fees. Visitor can do Darshan at the navagraha temples.

TTDC LTC Tour

Two Tour packages are covered in TTDC LTC tour. one is LTC Chennai Tours and second is LTC Tours Madurai.

TTDC LTC Chennai Tours

This tour package has 4 different tours with duration of 4 to 6 days. 4 days and 6 days TTDC LTC Chennai tours operates on 2nd and 4th Monday of every month. 5 days TTDC LTC tour Chennai operates on 1st and 3rd Monday of every month. 5 Days tour has 2 different routes. One Tour has places of interest is Chennai, Chidambaram, Poompuhar, Nagore, Thanjavur, Madurai and Trichy. Second 5 days LTC Chennai will cover Chennai, Thanjavur, Darasuram, Rameswaram, Kanniyakumari, Madurai. During 4 Days LTC Tour Chennai, tourist will visit Chennai, Hogenakkal, Ooty Hill station, Chidambaram, Pichavaram, and Pondicherry. Tourist will enjoy sightseeing while 6 Days LTC Tour Chennai at Thanjavur, Madurai, Kodaikanal, Palani and Thiruchy.

TTDC LTC Madurai Tours

Madurai Tour is 4 days long tour. 3 tour packages are available with different place and different operation day in month. Tour operates on 1st and 3rd Monday of every Month has 2 different routs of tour. Places covered in TTDC LTC Madurai tour are Madurai, Palani, Coimbatore, Ooty, Thiruchy and back to Madurai. Second routes for tour is Salem, Yercaud, Hogenakkal, Coimbatore and Madurai. Tours operates on 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every Month covers Thanjavur, Velankanni, Nagore, Chidambaram, Pondicherry, Mamallapuram and Chennai.

TTDC Tours Cancellation Rules

• No Cancellation within 24 Hours before the commencement of the "Tour".
• Cancellation will be made only in person by written requisition at Tourism Complex, Chennai - 2.
• No refund will be allowed if the tourist misses the Coatch or cancels the journey after the departure of the coach.
• Cancellation charges will be levied as below. Between 24 to 48 Hours = 50%, Before 48 Hours 25%
• Only one postponement / Preponement is permitted before 24 Hours subject to availability of seats and operation of tour.
• If one postponement / Preponement is availed, no further postponement or cancellation will be permitted.
• If the booking is made through the agents - cancellation also should be done through them only.

TTDC Tours Conditions

• The Tour will be operated subject to operational conditions. The ticket purchased is not transferable.
• There will be no refund for any unforeseen calamities, which may occur during the tour.
• TTDC will not be responsible for any damage or loss to the properties of tourists.
• If a person travels as a single person, he/she will be accommodated in a single room during night halts on the purchase of single room accommodation tickets.
• Three adults in a family will be accommodated in a one double room by providing only one extra mattress even though the third person is in possession of a double room tickets.
• Allotment of vehicle with 10s/8s/35s seater will be made based on the number of tourist booking the "Tour"
• In case of any dispute, the decision of the Managing Director will be final and binding
• Only court in Chennai will be the jurisdiction for all disputes.
