While travelling by road in India, following list contains some useful travel tips. All state road transport corporation buses have some the same instructions posted on the board within the bus, and private tour operators repeat certain safety tips while issuing the ticket. Transit with care. Travel tips to travel safely in State road transport buses as well as private luxury, coaches or volvo buses.

  • Protect vechicles, bus stations, bus shelters, parking signs & traffic signs as you would protect your own property. Do not spit on the bus. If you see anyone destroying or damaging, please report to the nearest police station.

  • Insist on getting a valid journey ticket and pay the correct amount. For long journeys please obtain your tickets in advance from the ticket counter for safe and comfortable journey before departure of bus.

  • Please co-operate with ticket checking officials on duty. Passengers travelling without a valid ticket may be reported to the nearest police station or may be charges with higher fines then the ticket amount by checking officials. Avoid riding the bus without proper tickets.

  • Refusal to give tickets by the duty conductors/drivers may be reported to nearest bus Station/police station and checking officials on duty.

  • Book your luagge before boarding. Board the bus on time to maintain schedule departure and for avoiding inconvenience to fellow passengers.

  • Avoid drinking/smoking/eating inside the bus for convenience of co-passengers.

  • Do not carry gas cylinders/explosive materials/hazardous materials in the bus.

  • Do not detain the bus on the way unnecessarily for personal reason.

  • Do not run for or jump out while bus is in motion.

  • Do not sit/stand in front of engine to avoid disturbances to driver while driving.

  • Do not talk to driver while the driver is driving the vehicle.
  • Avoid roof riding for your own safety.

  • Cooperate with drivers /conductors in case of technical problem on way.

  • Please carry concessional cards, if you have obtain one. Journey without concessional cards or tickets is now allowed.

  • Follow instructions on bus stations/bus shelters for departure times, and for other information. For any other help please contact the nearest ticket booking or information center.

  • If you happen to see any unidentified package or bagagge please report to the driver or conductor on duty or to the checking officials. If they are not available, please report to the nearest police station.

  • Please remain with your luggage all the time. Stay alert from pocket pickers.

  • Make sure that your fellow senior citizens always gets the seat. Give preference to senior citizens or people who need help.
