Three passengers were killed and 23 injured when an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation bus plunged into a ridge near Tirumala in the early hours of Wednesday.There were 52 persons, including the crew, in the bus. They included 26 men, 15 women and 11 children. Most of the passengers were pilgrims returning to Tirupati from Tirumala Hills after offering puja at the Lord Venkateswara temple.While a male passenger died on the spot, a woman and a child succumbed to injuries in the hospital. Seventeen persons were injured

Seventeen persons were injured, four of them seriously, when a bus was hit by a passenger train at a manned level-crossing near Vinukonda town in Guntur district. The accident took place on Saturday morning. A state-owned APSRTC bus was crossing the railway line at the level-crossing. However, since the gates were not closed, the Nandyal-Guntur passenger train hit its rear portion, Guntur SP A Ravishankar said here. All the 15 passengers, along with the driver, and the conductor were injured, he said, adding that the condition of four of them is serious. A case under section 304 IPC(A) (causing death by rash and negligence act) will be registered against the gate man who had failed to close the gate, he added.....Read more at source.

Imcomplete road lying works

It is a classic example of how the incomplete road laying works combined with officials' callous attitude become death traps for commuters. The road divider from Bharatnagar flyover to Kukatpally APSRTC bus depot, which had risen almost to the road level with frequent recarpeting, is leading to several accidents. As the road divider and the main road are on the same plane, vehicles simply cross over the divider leading to mishaps.The death of two young women in a road accident on Friday in front of the Kukatpally APSRTC bus depot is another such case. According to eye-witnesses, the two victims were proceeding from Bharatnagar flyover to Balanagar on a two-wheeler. When they reached Moosapet, a person on a scooter tried to cross the road divider from the Kukatpally bus depot side to the petrol bunk on the other end.....Read more at source.
