APSRTC Overview

Andhra pradesh state road transport corporation provides transit facility in the state of andhra pradesh. It has in its fleet approximately 18000+ buses. Due to its strength in terms of the fleet, the number of miles it covers daily, the total number of employees, and connections to the adjacent states, APSRTC is considered as the largest state transport undertaking in the world. APSRTC runs intercity and inter district buses within the state of Andhra pradesh. It also runs interstate routes connecting to the adjacent states of Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Karnataka - KSRTC and Maharashtra. APSRTC runs air conditioned coach, sleeper coach, express buses, ordinary buses and special service buses to cater the needs of the passengers. Andhra Pradesh has a total road network of 178,474 Kilometers with about 12 National Highways of 4014 Kms. and State Highways of 8763 Kms.

Things to know before booking apsrtc bus tickets online

• apsrtc online bus ticket booking and cancellations is only available between 6 in the morning to 6 in the evening as per Indian Standard Time.
• It is always in your favour to read and comply with the terms and conditions of the apsrtc official website for bus ticket booking online, before moving forward with the transaction.
• Please do not register with apsrtc official website with multiple user id's or accounts as it is a violation of the terms and conditions of the usage of the official apsrtc website. apsrtc reserves the right to remove such user id's. It is recommended that in cases where you have forgotten your password, to request one using the registration screen link provided.
• apsrtc official website only provides internet facility for Passenger reservation system, and not other services offered by apsrtc.
• Please remember that your ticket is confirmed only once a transaction is authorized and cleared, after which you can print the e-ticket provided to you. It is always in your interest to confirm such reservations via phone if you think there is a problem or contacting them via email. You can also get a copy of your ticket by visiting apsrtc counter and providing the PNR number.
• While traveling using the e-ticket, the passenger must posses the same identity referred to have while reserving the ticket online. Most importantly, photocopies are not valid, and you must present the original form of identity in order to travel.
• At present apsrtc does not support partial cancellation of the e-ticket (Online bus ticket).
• Please remember: The apsrtc will levy a service charge of 2.5% on the fare applicable for each seat in addition to the fare payable. It is again in your interest to make certain the total charges applied to your credit card or internet bank accounts, rather then later disputing the charged amount.
• You should print your e-tickets as soon as you book the tickets. Recommendation would be to print and confirm your reservation. Due to very heavy traffic on the website, it is always best to confirm.
• When you think that your credit card is deducted for the amount, but you do not get confirmation on your bus ticket, please send an email to onlinerefund@apsrtc.gov.in with your user id, OB reference and as much information you can provide. Upon verification your account will be credited back if information you sent is found to be true.
• Please note that the cancellation & refunds email address is different, which is aaarow@apsrtc.gov.in. Please provide your user id, OB reference and as much information you can provide to make it easier to identify your booking.
• Refunds for cancellation takes around 30 working days. If you experience delay in your refund payment, it is advisable to contact apsrtc via telephone or in-person at the available counters. If you have booked your tickets using approved apsrtc agents, you can visit the agent as well for inquiry.

Free travel bus pass to feedom fighters of Andhra pradesh aged 65 and above

All the Freedom Fighters hailing from A.P. aged 65 yrs. and above (born on or before 13.09.1929) are allowed to travel freely on all types of A.P.S.R.T.C. buses except AC buses within the State on the strength of their pension payment order. They are issued passes on yearly basis.

Physically diabled

• Physically handicapped, mentally retarded, blind, deaf & dumb shall produce certificate issued by the District Medical Board concerned.
• Deaf & Dumb are those in whom the sense of hearing and speaking is fully nonfunctional for ordinary purpose of life. He does not hear/ understand should at all even with amplified speech.
• The blind are those in whom the sight is totally absent i.e., loss of sight in both eyes.
• Mentally retarded person is he who is under the category of IQ-40 and below.
• Escorts to mentally retarded and blind persons are allowed based on the certification of the Medical authorities at 50% concessional fare.
• Orthopaedically handicapped are those who have 40% and above disability.

Girl students studying upto class X

Girl students upto an upper age limit of 18 years studying class X and below shall be issued with free route pass between the residence to school and back upto a maximum distance upto 20 KMs. in rural areas and 22 KMs in cities/towns. The students studying in Govt., Govt. aided or private registered school are eligible for which the Head of the school shall certify the date of birth and bonafides of the students.

Students Below 12 Yrs.

The School/Institution shall be of Govt., Govt. aided or private registered one. The Head of the Institution shall certify the date of birth and bonafied of the students. Free route pass between residence and school will be issued by the nearest Depot Manager. The maximum distance fixed is 22 KMs in cities/ towns and 20 KMs. in rural areas.

Students monthly / quarterly route passes / General bus passes

The school/college/ higher educational and Technical institution where the student is studying shall have recognition of the State or Central Govt. The courses shall be of full time in nature. The students shall not be in receipt of any stipend/fellowship and should not have been employed. The institution shall have affiliation to any Board or University of the State/Central Govt. which conducts examinations and issues certificates. The Student shall obtain certification of the Head of the Institution in the application form prescribed and submit to obtain the bus pass from the nearest Depot Manager.

Student exclusive bus pass

Students numbering not less than 60 willing to avail exclusive student special shall be provided with exclusive bus facility. The minimum route length for operating the service is 16 KMs in cities/ towns and 20 KMs in rural areas. The tariff shall be collected extra on pro-rata basis, depending upon the additional distance involved.

Monthly season tickets / Monthly route passes / Monthly GBT

Monthly General Bus tickets are issued for travel by City Ordinary, Metro Express and Metro Liner services at a monthly cost of Rs.340/-, Rs.440/- and Rs.500/- respectively. Holders of the pass are permitted to perform unrestricted journey by the services for which the pass is valid. General public are issued with monthly season tickets in rural areas and route passes in cities/towns. The holders of this pass will be charged 20 days (one 'Up' and one 'Down') fare i.e., 1/3rd concession allowing them to perform journey on all days of the month.

NGOs bus pass

A.P. State Government employees working in twin cities, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Warangal and whose pay is below the scale of 2930-5960 (prerevised), are issued NGOs bus passes priced at Rs.310/- and Rs.370/- for City and Sub-urban travel respectively. The Controlling Officer will certify the bonafides of the NGO for obtaining this pass. The NGO will pay 1/3rd cost of the pass and the balance 2/3rds cost will be reimbursed by A.P. State Government.

Travel as you like

Travel As You Like Tickets are issued to all general public allowing the holder to perform un-restricted travel on that day by the City/ Sub-urban services under operation in the city/ town. These tickets are available with conductors of all services. There are two types of Travel As You Like viz., Travel As You Like Ordinary and Travel As You Like Metro. These tickets offer the convenience of travel as many buses as possible with a single payment for the entire day.

Greater hyderabad / Krishnaveni dharshan / Visakha darshan

These passes are issued to general public NGOs of A.P. State Government and students. The cost of the pass is fixed at the base rate of Sub-urban General bus ticket and additional fare beyond Sub-urban limits depending upon the distance involved.

Concessinal / Free bus passes to accredited journalists and photographers.

For News papers with circulation above 50,000 eight Journalists & two photographers are issued free bus passes within the District and concessional fare of 2/3rd of the actual fare on all District routes within the State. If the circulation is less than 50,000 the above facility is extended to five Journalists and one photographer per News Paper. This facility is extended to the personnel of private electronic media also. One accredited journalist is issued free bus pass within the District in case of periodicals i.e. weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

Free bus passes to Honorable MLA's, MP's and their spouses

All the Honorable members of legislative Assembly, their spouses and members of Parliament hailing from A.P. are allowed to travel freely in all types of services of A.P.S.R.T.C. on the strength of Identity Card. Four seats in all types of services and two berths in AC sleeper coaches are reserved exclusively for this purpose.
